Sweet 16.

Hey guys! Remember this picture from my last post? Yes? HAHA. These balloons were from my inaanak's first birthday. Her parents gave these to us and I'll show you where we used these.

------------------------------------------------------------

Sweet 16. My sister just turned 16 last March 6. Sweet 16 parties are popular in the United States and Canada as well as Western nations and now in the Philippines. I searched up sweet 16 parties and found out that there are traditions like the 18th birthday parties----the candle-lighting ceremony, the shoe ceremony, tiara ceremony, father-daughter dance and the video montage.

For the Candle-lighting ceremony.

Each of the 16 candles holds a special meaning
  • The first candle is for the girl's parents.
  • The second candle is for the siblings. (If there are no siblings, then this candle can represent the grandparents.)
  • Candles 3, 4, 5 and 6 are for the rest of the family members.
  • Candles 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14 are for friends.
  • Candle 15 is for the girl's best friend or friends.
  • The 16th candle is for a significant male, such as a boyfriend or good friend.
  • Some add a 17th candle which represents good luck
For the Shoe Ceremony.
The girl would traditionally be wearing flat shoes, such as slippers, and the father ceremoniously helps her into her new high heels. This is symbolic of the girl transitioning into a woman.

For the Tiara Ceremony.

This ceremony is similar to the shoe ceremony, except the mother approaches with a tiara instead of shoes. She places it on her daughters head to symbolize her becoming a woman. Sometimes this is combined with the shoe ceremony, so that two people approach the birthday girl, one with a pillow with high heels, and the other with a pillow with a tiara.

For the Father-daughter Dance.
The father-daughter dance is a tradition that is also frequently performed at weddings. The girl and her father dance to a slow-jazz song while everyone sits and watches. This is usually the first song of the night.

For the Video Montage.

At high end sweet sixteens, a DJ often brings along several televisions or a projector to show a video montage set to music of the birthday girl containing pictures starting from when she was a baby and getting older, usually ending with pictures of her in her sweet sixteen dress. This is either made by the DJ with photos provided from the family of the birthday girl, by the parents, or by a sibling. The guests can either sit down and watch this montage, or it could be playing in the background while the guests dance.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

But, we did not go with the traditions instead because her class went on an outing/overnight on the 5th and they'll be back at lunch of the 6th so we made a birthday surprise for her. We made a tarpaulin, thanks to Rhea's for this beautiful picture from their JS PROM; ordered the piano cake at Kimlyn's and the balloons from D' Balloon Station, Inc. So, my mom told their moderator to go at our house before they'll go home from their overnight. And here are some pictures of our surprise. XD

The celebrant with our surprise!

And here's US! Celebrating Joy's Birthday plus the ENDING of our FINALS. XD
*see the where we put those balloons from Ella's first birthday party?? hihi.

Tol.

Tol means a Child's First Birthday in Korea and my post relates to this. Last night, I went to my inaanak's first birthday held at Sapphire Ball, Astoria Hotel. Her theme for her birthday is POOH and his Friends, somewhat not appropriate for her because she's a girl and Pooh is a boy? right? Well, but I liked the venue, the set-up, the balloons, the games and of course the food. HAHA! So, I'll show you some photos from last night's birthday.

I like the balloon rainbows, sun and the clouds.

Her cake! Yummy!
Free ice cream and Free cotton candy.

Two of her birthday photos flashed on the screen.
TRIVIA: That blouse she's wearing, I gave it to her as a Xmas gift

But, I like this picture the MOST coz she's so adorable in here. XD
Her Giveaways.

Oh. Look! Her first game. :)

They're not ready but I am! HA!

She's tired already. :(
Got this piglet cupcake.
TRIVIA: I gave her a piglet stuffed toy

I Always Love Biking.

Hi again! The morning was really boring but thank God for a wonderful afternoon with my family. We went to our playground once again ---THE FOREST LAKE. We brought our bikes and the rackets and our dog. All four of us went biking around the place. It was a good exercise for us; didn't have the time to do that for a long time. Whew! My heart was tachycardic after a few rounds. We played badminton and walked our dog too. Got a few photos taken by my friend Cai-Cai because we bumped into each other while ago.

Oh shoot! Me being tomboyish at the moment. Oh and look! I've got something on my hand like a PRO! HAHA!

Look at Cai's bike! It's too small for her. HAHA! She doesn't know how to ride a bike and she just used it to take a pose. Glad to have a little exercise! HAHA! Ciao!

Hello Sunday! Finally a rest day.
Got busy with school and PRC requirements so got no time to blog but HEY! I'm blogging about it right now. HA! With the help of my captured photos let's start with the story. HAHA!
I'm WARNING you all of me posting HEAVY IMAGES. ;)

02-22-12 The night before our signing of these papers I had it prepared so I won't forget one single thing. HA! But I did forget to bring my DOS form so I had to go to school again the next day. Moving on.

Hello to my post-it on my index stating that I did not printed yet my lacking PRCs.

And say Hi to my unsigned Calendar of Duties and Cases. Boohoo!

02-23-12 Look at my classmates being resourceful with the cases and the thing we like - CRAMMING!

After half accomplishing our requirements, Chelsea, Rhea and I decided to eat already because we were so hungry. We ate at KFC and got ourselves a refreshing KRUSHERS.

Got home with aching feet and found these food served on the table. YUMMY! This is reward!

Another night before the day reminder from my planner. We did not finish letting our papers sign so we had to go to school the next day again.

02-24-12 I already prepared my form and I passed it already. Good! I just closed and completed my cases that day. YEAH!

Lunch time again! We ate at Greenwich and ordered the Barkada Treat. A pizza, pasta and a crispy chicken with rice and our nestea. FULL!

Look! Because of hunger, my fork was broken a little. HA!

Hi Chelsea! our driver for the day. We went hospital hopping. Thanks for the ride!

And look at what we found. A portable Touch screen TV in her car. Rhea is so curious at the picture. HAHA! For that 2 whole days of signing at least we accomplished something, A LOT! Whew!
Sorry for boring you. And now FINALS is up. Tahta! Study mode again. CHOS!
GOODLUCK SENIORS!
